Willie Watson Plays Traditional Folk Music at Peninsula’s G.A.R. Hall

Wed 5/8 @ 8PM

Willie Watson is only 39 but his music is steeped in much, much older traditions. The singer/songwriter/guitarist & banjo player cut his teeth as a founding member of the Old Crow Medicine Show 20 years ago, before releasing his solo debut Folksinger Vol. 1 in 2014.

Raised in upstate New York, he evolved from classic and 90s rock to the jam/old-time scene where he began to learn the old, traditional songs that for the backbone of his repertoire. He followed up his debut with Folksinger Vol. 2 in 2017, where he mixed such Delta blues, gospel, Irish fiddle tunes and Appalachian ballads, among others.

He’ll be bringing his history-bathed music back to Peninsula’s G.A.R. Hall as part of its Voices in the Valley series. Tickets are $27 in advance, $32 at the door.
