Sun 3/31 @ 2-3PM
French organ player Emmanuel Culcasi began studying piano and organ in Aix-en-Provence and Marseille when he was just six. He focused on organ when he entered the conservatory at Lyon, and in 2017 began music composition studies at Paris’ Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique et Danse.
The multi-talented musician/scientist/educator has also done a research fellowship on musical training’s effect on the brain’s structural plasticity and long-term memory interactions. He’s also co-organist-in-residence at a pair of cathedrals in Marseilles and Aix-en-Provence. And he’s only 25 years old.
Culcasi will do a solo recital on the McMyler Memorial Organ at the Cleveland Museum of Art, where he’ll play music by Bach and Brahms, as well as contemporary composers Valéry Aubertin and Jean-Charles Gandrille, and Louis Vierne (1870-1937).
The concert is free and no ticket is needed.
