Spend an Evening with Dave Cullen, Author of “Parkland: Birth of a Movement” at Hudson Library

Tue 4/2 @ 7PM

It has been just over a year since the shooting in Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida that took the lives of 14 students and three teachers. We are far from a solution that lead to this tragedy and the shootings that have happened since, but the inspiring activism that was born from the devastation makes you wonder if change will come.

In his latest book, Parkland: Birth of a Movement, New York Times bestselling author Dave Cullen examines the mobilization and provides up-close portraits of the activists themselves. Join in conversation on Tue 4/2 @ 7pm at the Hudson Library as Cullen visits a city equally as susceptible to gun violence.

Cullen is also author of the book Columbine, and has written for The New York Times, Vanity Fair, BuzzFeed, Politico, Newsweek, The Washington Post, and many other media outlets.

After the suicides of Parkland survivor Sydney Aiello and a current Parkland sophomore in the past few weeks, we must remember that although these young people are fighting, they still carry the heavy weight of what has happened. We must proceed with both admiration but understanding as these students continue in their activism despite the trauma.

Copies of Parkland will be available for purchase and signing courtesy of the Learned Owl Book Shop. Register for this free program here.
