Chillicothe, Ohio-born Nancy Wilson (not the Heart guitarist), who died in December at the age of 81, was one of the world’s premiere jazz/pop/R&B singers. Her career spanned more than five decades, starting when she performed in Columbus-area clubs as a teenager in the early-mid 50s. She moved to New York in 1959 at the age of 22, and her career took off. She recorded more than 70 albums and is known for such songs as “(You Don’t Know) How Glad I Am,” “Save Your Love for Me” and “Guess Who I Saw Today.”
Those songs will most likely be on the set list when local vocal veteran Evelyn Wright, who herself has displayed versatility in multiple genres over the years, performs an evening in tribute to Wilson, backed by the David Thomas piano trio.
Tickets are $15.
