When you’re young and fresh out of school and ready to launch into the world, the last thing you’re thinking about is one of your colleagues dying. But that’s what the talented kids from Baldwin Wallace University’s acclaimed music theatre program faced when Kyle Jean-Baptiste, fresh from graduating from BW in 2015 and clearly destined for stardom as he was playing the lead role of Jean Vajean in Les Miserables on Broadway at the age of 21, accidentally fell to his death from a New York fire escape in August 2015. He’d been out of school for mere months.
Clearly, such a heartbreaking occurrence had a huge impact on his classmates as well as students coming up behind him. That’s why this next generation of Broadway stars is performing the 2nd annual Kyle Jean-Baptiste benefit, titled “One Love!,” at Nighttown.
Both graduates and current students will be performing an evening of love songs. Admission is only $10 and proceeds will benefit theKyle Jean-Baptiste Foundation.
