Maybe you go for the Demolition Derby or the Elephant Ears or Flea Market or the mainstage acts or the sideshows. Uh, I don’t think they do the sideshows anymore.
We went for the cultural ambiance, for the Blue, Red and White ribbon winners in hundreds of categories, and to embrace the 4H Club Pledge:
“I pledge … My Head to clearer thinking, My Heart to greater loyalty, My Hands to larger service and My Health to better living for my club, my community, my country, and my world.” What more can you ask of our kids today?
We didn’t ride the rides, we didn’t sit in the stands for the musical acts. We passed right by the fried food and the games. But we visited every Arts & Crafts exhibit hall, and we witnessed the new 262 foot tall FairWinds turbine. We scored the best peach cobbler ever, a new fedora for my friend, and some glam stage clothes for the band.
