Sunday 4/29 @ 2PM
On April 29th from 2-6pm, the Greater Cleveland Chorus (GCC) is performing Acappalooza: an afternoon of unplugged musical entertainment at the Music Box Supper Club. An all-women’s barbershop chorus with the main purpose of getting out to sing in the community, GCC recently won the Region 17 competition (choruses from Ohio, Michigan, Indiana and Pennsylvania) for the ninth time, and are headed to the Sweet Adelines International Competition in St. Louis to compete this fall. So before they head to Missouri, come out to the shores of the Cuyahoga River and enjoy an afternoon of live a cappella and acoustic-style music from 12 local Cleveland musicians, with great food, good raffles, and a glorious waterfront view. Doors open at 1:30PM.
“The Greater Cleveland Chorus is excited to bring a cappella and barbershop-style music to a new audience and share the stage with many local Cleveland talents,” says the Greater Cleveland Chorus Master Director Jean Flinn.
A membership organization of female singers who meet regularly to practice, perform, socialize, and have fun, there are currently 70 singers of all ages (30-85), all walks of life, and all parts of the Northeast Ohio area.
Acappalooza: an afternoon of unplugged musical entertainment will showcase a cappella arrangements of songs that span many generations by artists such as the Beatles, Justin Timberlake, Queen, the Eurythmics, Adele, Stevie Wonder, Toto, James Taylor, David Guetta/Sia, Frank Sinatra, Paul Simon, Barbra Streisand, the Mamas and the Papas, Pharrell Williams, and more.
In addition to a cappella performances by the GCC, Unfinished Business, TGIF, Wing It, Red Blend, Resolution, Hooked on Harmony and Intrinsic, the program also includes acoustic performances by local Cleveland artists Becky Boyd, Pelcone & Co., the Mike Binder & Priscilla Acoustic Duo and Guy Snowdon.
“In an age where music exists on production techniques, it’s great that someone still appreciates the stripped-down approach”, commented Nicky P of Pelcone & Co. and owner of Tobra Productions.
Tickets are limited and on sale and can be purchased online or at 440-796-6026. General admission is $45 and children under 10 are $30. Ticket includes general admission to the performances, food and non-alcoholic beverages. All tickets must be purchased by April 22nd.
