One of Cleveland’s gems hidden in the city is Lake View Cemetery. Whether you are a history buff fascinated by the citizens from all walks of life buried there or a nature lover who enjoys the beautiful scenery, it’s a great place to go walking.
Among the landmarks within the cemetery are the President James A. Garfield Memorial, dedicated in 1890 to our 20th president who was born in Moreland Hills and tragically died by assassination in 1881 after serving only a half year of his term and the 1901 Wade Memorial Chapel with its interior designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany.
Both open for the season this week and remain open to the public through 11/19 daily. Entrance is free. The Garfield Memorial also has a small gift shop where you can purchase souvenirs and postcards.
