Fri 11/24 @ 8PM
You may have heard about Lorain county singer/songwriter/guitarist Emily Keener, who is still in her teens but has been around the local music scene for three or four years. If what you heard is that she was a contestant on The Voice, forget that cheesy cover-tune hell and give a listen to her own material, which she’s released on three albums to date including last year’s Breakfast. She works in the tradition of great ’70 singer/songwriters such as Joni Mitchell and Paul Simon, with intricate music and intelligent, aware lyrics.
You have a chance to hear her perform with another outstanding area singer/songwriter, Akron’s Gretchen Pluess, who has also been working the area scene for years with her confessional songs. Both perform at Peninisula’s G.A.R. Hall as part of its Voices in the Valley series.
Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door.
