Star-Spangled Science at Great Lakes Science Center Explores Holiday-Themed Science

Sun 7/2-Tue 7/4

For three days leading up to and including the 4th of July, the Great Lakes Science Centers Star Spangled Science will offer a series of July 4-themed demonstrations and hands-on activities.

There will of course be demonstrations of how fireworks are put together and how they change colors, as well as how they manage to skyrocket so high. In a hands-on workshop kids can make a colorful paper firework to take home with them, or they can participate in an activity to make some red white & blue glitter slime or a Duck tape-and-LED necklace, pin, hat or bracelet. There’ll be the opportunity to build something with LEGO bricks and, most fun of all, at 3:15 each day, everyone can head outside and watch a watermelon being blown up.

All activities are free with regular GLSC admission: $15 for adults, $12 for kids 2-12.
