With gritty free-rock improvisations and structures that arise out of the nebulous cloud of instrumental exploration, Chicago based three-piece Mako Sica are no strangers to dynamic intensity. They gradually build their pieces bigger and bigger, higher and higher, until there is nowhere left to go but to knock it down, only to build it back up again.
Fuzz heavy experimental jazz-rock duo Cereal Banter creates fun, lively, melodic songs with the heart of punk rock. This is Cereal Banter’s record release show at the Magelan, releasing their record aptly named Junk Jazz.
The show lineup continues with the experimental noise duo Howland/Kuehn, lo-fi indie rock band Soft Copy, and the Scott Pickering Band.
