Come Learn About Offshore Wind Power Generation at the City Club

Fri 4/28 @ noon

Renewable energy generation is growing each year, despite the efforts of fossil fuel extraction businesses to throw obstacles in its path. It’s already producing the jobs of the future even as jobs in industries such as coal go away for good. Wind is the largest renewable energy source in the U.S. — and it’s only going to get larger.

Cleveland could be a huge beneficiary of this, as the first freshwater offshore wind project is scheduled to start construction in 2018 and be operative the following year. Icebreaker, as it’s called, will consist of six turbines seven miles offshore in Lake Erie.

Want to know more about the project and its potential economic impact on the region? The City Club of Cleveland is hosting a conversation featuring four panelists involved in renewable energy and economic development. Ideastream reporter/producer Elizabeth Miller moderates.

Come a little early and you can hear this year’s winner of the Maltz Museum Stop the Hate essay contest read their essays. Tickets are $20 for members, $35 for nonmembers.
