After his rock & roll days were (mostly) done, Akron’s own Mark Mothersbaugh of DEVO, moved to Los Angeles and transitioned to a successful career scoring films.

One of his most recent projects was the music for the 2016 Netflix film Pee-Wee’s Big Holiday, featuring infamous satirical children’s show host Pee-Wee Herman. The goings-on in this comedy/adventure are typically wacky and convoluted.

For their next concert, the Contemporary Youth Orchestra, a high school-aged ensemble which performs new music rather than old warhorses, frequently crossing pop and classical boundaries, will perform the score in its entirely live while the film plays on a giant screen at Cleveland State University’s Waetjen Auditorium. Tickets are $18-$28; $8 for college students with ID.
