Young French Organist Performs a Free Concert at Cleveland Museum of Art

Sun 2/19 @ 2PM

Sunday is a great time to go to the Cleveland Museum of Art for an afternoon of free art and music. Take a leisurely stroll through the galleries and then stop in its Gartner Auditorium where you’ll find young French pianist Emmanuel Arakélian, who at age 25, is just starting to make a name for himself in early music and instrument building. He’s a student at the Conservatoire national supérieur de Paris, studying organ, harpsichord and basso continuo, while holding down a position as organist of the Pascal Quoirin/Jean-Louis Loriaut organ of Saint Léonce Cathedral of Fréjus. And he likes performing contemporary music as well.

At CMA his program will span centuries, including pieces by 18th-century giant J.S. Bach, 19th-century composer Felix Mendelssohn, 20th-century composer Maurice Duruflé, young contemporary French artist Grégoire Rolland (you can find him on Facebook and Soundcloud!), and Jehan Alain, a French organist, organ builder and composer who was killed in 1940 at the age of 29 which fighting against German troops. War, what is it good for? Absolutely nothing!

No reservation is necessary; just come on in.
