Vocalist/keyboard player Amanda Walsh has played all around town as a member of folk/rock band City Limits. And while they play mostly covers (along with some originals), Walsh is breaking out and doing her own thing with a new CD she’ll debut at Nighttown this week.
She’s had plenty of preparation for this. She’s been playing piano and violin most of her life and was a music standout at Cleveland Heights High School before attending the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music where got her bachelor of music in piano performance. Since then she’s been teaching piano and violin and performing music with a range of influences from classical to jazz to singer-songwriters like Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon and Tori Amos; she even references poet Anne Sexton as an influence.
For her CD release show, she’ll be joined by an array of special guests, including Brendan Foreman, Irwin Weinberger, Larry Anderson, Bob Sammon and her City Limits bandmate Rick Szekelyi. Admission is $10.
