Sat 1/7 @ 6:30-10:30PM
There sure seem to be a lot of participation dance events happening this week — maybe because it’s a good way to work up a sweat and stave off the cold? The Troy Township Contra Dance takes place at the Troy Community House in Burton on the first Saturday of every month, and January is no exception.
Never tried out this form of folk dance which is similar to square dancing? That’s OK. Like many such events, it starts with a lesson at 6:30pm, so no one is left out of the fun just because they’re novices. Dancing to the live music of the band Mr. Haney starts at 7:30. Dance caller Kenny Wilson calls out the instructions throughout the evening It’s $10 for adults, $5 for youth and $25 for the whole darn family.
