Singer/harmonica player Dan Bode has been kicking around the Cleveland music scene for nearly 30 years. From the late ’80s through 1966, his bluesy rock band MoKo BoVo was a mainstay in area clubs, and released two albums: their self-tiled 1991 debut and Up in 1996.
A few years back, Bode, now living in and active around the Waterloo/North Collinwood area, reformed the band with two of the other original members, bassist Rick Kodramaz and guitarist Al Moses, as well as John Stebal on drums.
Now he’s taking off again, heading for Seattle, where his wife’s job is leading them. So the Beachland is hosting a “Dan Bode Sendoff” in the ballroom. MoKo BoVo will play, of course, along with another Bode project, the New Orleans-influenced swamp rockers Me Got Fire. Also on the bill are two more neighborhood residents: Maura Rogers and Meredith Pangrace aka the Bean Sisters from Muara Roges & the Bellows
“It is a big group hug from a neighborhood of musicians,” says the Beachland. Admission is $5.
