Cleveland singer/actress/dancer Mary Bridget Davies was singing the blues in area clubs and acting with local theater groups when she got her big break, performing the title role of Janis Joplin in the touring production of the show Love, Janis. Later she headed for New York City where she took on the same role in the jukebox musical A Night With Janis Joplin off-Broadway and late on Broadway. And she has toured with Joplin’s old band Big Brother and the Holding Company.

But long before she slipped into Joplin’s skin, Davies established her own identity as an accomplished blues/rock vocalist. And in 2012 she released an album Wanna Feel Somethin’ to showcase that identity and show the world what she’s like when she sheds the Joplin skin.

When she comes back home to perform, as she does frequently, she’ll undoubtedly do some Joplin tunes. But look for her to tackle a range of blues classics and original music as well. She’ll be at the Music Box Supper Club with her longtime collaborator, pianist/songwriter Ryan Sudick, opening. Tickets are $20 in advance, $22 at the door.
