Originally from Kansas, cellist Catherine Clyatt Schroth arrived in these parts initially to snag her bachelors and masters of music degrees in cello performance at the Cleveland Institute of Music. In addition to a performer who’s appeared with CityMusic Cleveland, she’s a certified music therapist who works with preschoolers and people in hospice.
She’s now releasing her first album Songs for my Son, which includes hymns, folk songs, familiar classical pieces and original music, including new pieces by young Cleveland-born and CIM-educated composer Evan Fein, now based in NYC.
She’ll debut the album with a concert at the Bop Stop where she’ll be joined by violinist Mary Price and pianist Ron Palka. Admission is $10.
