Following the retirement of rock ’n’ roll buff Terry Stewart as president and CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, Greg Harris took over in 2012. He’s another rock ’n’ roll fan with experience in another popular form of entertainment: he previously worked at the Baseball Hall of Fame. Having music fans in charge has made a lot of difference from the Rock Hall’s earliest days.
In the nearly four years since he took over, the Rock Hall, which celebrates its 21st birthday in September, has continued to present a full schedule of exhibits, concerts and special events and grow its visitor base. And starting in 2018, it will host the inductions every other year instead of every three years, a step in the right direction. (The Rock Hall is the only significant hall of fame that doesn’t host its own inductions each year.)
So there’ll be a lot for him to talk about, and undoubtedly a lot the audience will want to ask him when he speaks at the City Club of Cleveland. Tickets are $20 for members, $35 for non-members, and include lunch.
