PHOTOSTREAM: Hillary Clinton at John Marshall High School by Anastasia Pantsios

Wed 8/17

On Wed 8/17, Hillary Clinton made what’s sure to be one of several appearances in Cleveland, given that Ohio is critical to winning in November, speaking at John Marshall High School. The announced topic of her speech was “Tax Fairness” and she spoke about that, along with many other issues pertinent to ordinary working people, ranging from the minimum wage to affordable college to quality Pre-K. She got one of the biggest laughs when she said “Friends don’t let friends vote for Donald Trump.”

Before she spoke, the audience heard from several other Ohio politicians including state senator Mike Skindell of Lakewood, a former Bernie Sanders supporter; Congresswoman Marcia Fudge, who got a huge ovation; and former governor and current U.S. Senate candidate Ted Strickland. Hillary was introduced by a John Marshall teacher, and one section of the bleachers was occupied by students from the school.

As usual, following her speech, Hillary worked the barricades, shaking hands and taking selfies with dozens of deliriously happy admirers.
