They’re coming into town for a celebration of the life of Cleveland music industry mover and shaker John Awarski, who died recently. So Youngstown’s legendary Glass Harp is doing a surprise pop-up show at the Kent Stage.

The group, featuring the core trio of drummer John Sferra, bassist Dan Pecchio and guitarist Phil Keaggy, just played to a full house at the Kent Stage in May, and their return visits are always popular. In the early ’70s when the distinctive band released three albums on Decca Records, they were one of northeast Ohio’s biggest attractions, blending elements of progressive rock with harmonies adapted from bands like the Beatles.

Keaggy left the band in 1972 for a career in Christian music and the band broke up the following year. They reunited for a Rock Hall concert in the late ’90s and have played occasional shows ever since. They currently have several archival video and audio releases in the pipeline for future release. And Keaggy will be releasing a new album All at Once in the fall, followed by an extensive tour.

Tickets are $30-$45 and are on sale now.
