SPACES Gallery held a “groundbreaking” party at its future facility on the corner of Detroit Avenue and West 29th Street to mark the beginning of the build-out on the raw first floor of the Van Rooy Building.
Visitors – everyone who is anyone in Cleveland’s art community — donned symbolic pink plastic “hard” hats, checked out a video presentation on the plans, at ice cream and listened to short speeches from various SPACES supporters ad personnel including councilman Kerry McCormick, past board president John Farina, executive director Christina Vassal and future neighbors Fred and Laura Ruth Bidwell who are restoring the upstairs of the building.
