There seems to be no end to the fun event programming surrounding the current Mark Mothersbaugh exhibit Myopia at the Akron Art Museum and MOCA Cleveland/ Coming up: The DadaPUNK Cabaret and Dance Party at MOCA.
“Reject reason, embrace art and prize nonsense at this special event celebrating the centennial of Dadaism, the avant-garde movement that’s had a long-lasting influence on generations of artists, including DEVO co-founder Mark Mothersbaugh,” says MOCA. “Prepare yourself for a nonstop extravaganza of professional talent, amazement, bewilderment and absurdity!”
It starts from 8-10pm with a Dada-inspired cabaret show featuring Cleveland vaudeville ensemble Wizbang featuring comedy, music, circus and theatrical acts, acrobatics and more. When they’re done, from 10pm-1am, DJs take over to fill the dance floor with a backdrop of video, vintage film, weird happenings and odd people. You’re invited to come in a Dada- or punk-inspired costume and be one of those odd people. Tickets are $35 for the whole evening, $25 for the show only, $15 for the dance party only.
