The level of excitement on the Tri-C JazzFest free outdoor stage at PlayhouseSquare was multiple exponentially this year, with a large full-production stage cited right at the intersection of Euclid Avenue and East 14th Street. Incendiary performances by Ernie Krivda and the Fat Tuesday Band, Sammy De Leon y su Orquesta, FunkyardX and Wesley Bright, among others, ignited the crowd, while the Parade the Circle puppets added mystique. You didn’t even need to slip into one of the many shows taking place inside the PlayhouseSquare theaters to capture the vibe. But we couldn’t resist slipping into the Outcalt to catch the red-hot sounds of trumpet player Jesus Alemany and his band Cubanismo.
