PHOTOSTREAM: Opening of Tiger Passage at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo by Anastasia Pantsios

Fri 6/3

Klechka and Dasha have a stunning new home. The two Amur tigers are residents of the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and are among less than 500 left in the world. So they deserve the best treatment and they’re getting it.

The Rosebrough Tiger Passage was dedicated on a sunny Friday morning 6/3. After the speeches and the ribbon cutting, zoo officials, benefactors, media and horde of school kids flooded up the path to see the new digs, five times larger than their old space. Tiger Passage features four interconnected areas with two overhead trails that visitors walk underneath. Visitors can always get a close-up, unobstructed view of the tigers through the glass — assuming they’re in the mood. You know cats! The morning of the groundbreaking, only Dasha had been relocated and she was just poking her nose out for an occasional peek at all the excitement as she got acclimated to her new home.
