The Cleveland Museum of Natural History @GoCMNH Celebrates National Astronomy Day

Astronomy

Sat 5/14 @ 10AM

Saturday May 14 is National Astronomy Day, and where else are you going to take the family to celebrate but the Cleveland Museum of Natural History with its Ralph Mueller Observatory and Shafran Planetarium?

The museum has a whole day of activities planned, of course — with games and crafts of all sorts, including an astronaut play station so kids can imagine what it would be like to take a trip into space themselves. You can touch real meteorites, study at maps on the moon and look at Venus through the 10 ½ inch refracting telescope in the observatory. And astronomers will be presenting a live show in the Shafran Planetarium.

There’ll also be local astronomy clubs on site to answer questions, share photo displays and let you look through their telescopes. And maybe, with your interest piqued, you’ll want to become a member.

All the activities, except the Planetarium show which is an additional $5, are free with admission: $14 for adults, $10 ages 3-18, college students with ID and seniors.
