Our healthcare facilities are some of the best in the world, and we have a great need for qualified Hospital Nursing Assistants. To meet this increased demand, NewBridge is now enrolling for its newest health care training program, Hospital Nursing Assistant (HNA).
NewBridge offers training in a state-of-the-art facility with a qualified, welcoming staff. All accepted students receive a full tuition scholarship that covers tuition, books, materials, uniforms and transportation. Additionally, NewBridge will assist HNA graduates with immediate job placement, retention and other support services to assure their success in the marketplace. It is the ideal next step for someone interested in healthcare and who is looking for career advancement and prestige.
NewBridge’s Career and Technical Programs are distinctive for their market-based approach, assisting unemployed community residents, by providing healthcare skills education and job placement. The programs are focused on preparation for careers – good paying jobs that include health insurance and opportunities for advancement. Its current adult training programs prepare graduates for careers as pharmacy technicians or phlebotomists.
Tyeishia was living in her car with her 2-year-old daughter when she learned that NewBridge offered free tuition for health care certification. “This program literally saved my life. I now have a solid career that I can fall back on,” said Tyeishia.
The NewBridge HNA Program is ten weeks in length, and includes real world work experience on both hospital and nursing home floors. The program trains students to function as an integral part of a health care delivery team to provide basic patient care under the direction of doctors, nurses and other health care professionals.
The program begins April 25th with classes held Monday through Friday, 8:30am-3pm during didactic training.
NewBridge will provide didactic and experiential training in the role and responsibilities of the Hospital Nursing Assistant, including basic patient care skills as well as communication skills. Course work will also include human anatomy and physiology with a focus on abnormalities, standard/universal precautions, CPR training, safety and infection control, HIPAA regulations as well as coping with the physical demands of constant patient contact.
A noteworthy highlight of the Hospital Nursing Assistant Program at NewBridge is the incorporation of active learning. Students will practice a majority of skills on each other in order to develop empathy for what the patient is experiencing. The program will integrate role-playing, allowing students to understand issues that may arise with patients, coworkers, and administration.
Applications are currently being accepted and applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED, demonstrate adequate reading comprehension, vocabulary, and math levels and satisfactorily complete an interview with program staff. A criminal background check and drug test will be done prior to enrollment, and any offense(s) will be evaluated and may impact acceptance decisions.
