Bassist Glen Holmes, a native Clevelander who teaches at the Music Settlement and Cleveland State University, is schooled in both jazz and classical music (he’s a former member of the Wichita Symphony Orchestra).
But when he leads the Glenn Holmes Quintet in a performance at the Bop Stop, it’ll be jazz all the way when they pay homage to the music of the legendary bandleader, composer and trumpeter Woody Shaw. Performing with him will be a lineup of stellar area jazz musicians: pianist Drene Ivy, sax player Johnny Cochran, trumpeter Mike Wade and drummer Paul Samuels.
