Cleveland quartet Tropidelic doesn’t believe in taking it easy. Since forming in Kent more than half a decade ago, the funk/reggae/hip hop/jam/party band has put out a constant string of releases, toured extensively, played festival after festival and even played a notorious street performance at the 2014 SXSW music conference in Austin, Texas that was shut down by the police.

They’re on the move again. We’ve lost count of their EPs, but they’re already following up last year’s sophomore full-length Police State with their brand new Go Down With the Ship barely a year later, which should fuel the multiple festival performances they’re promising for this summer season.

Currently, they’re in the midst of an extensive round of touring that’s taking them to Baltimore, Washington, Grand Rapids, Ann Arbor, Buffalo, Chicago, Athens, Erie, Cincinnati, Evansville, Rochester and Dayton, among other places. But they’ll stop home long enough to celebrate the new release with their local fans at the Grog Shop. Shrub and Bumpin’ Uglies open. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door.
