When Debbie & Pete Gulyas opened Blue Arrow Records on Waterloo Road in 2009, they quickly became aware of the number and plight of the stray and feral cats in the neighborhood. Since launching the Waterloo Alley Cat Project, they have spayed and neutered hundreds of cats, cutting down the kitten population, and care for dozens who currently live in the area.
Each year the WACP holds a benefit, an evening in which cat lovers can hang out, share their love without worrying about being called a “Crazy Cat Lady” or a “Crazy Cat Man,” and help raise money to for food and vet bills. This year’s event featured the usual raffle, auctions and mercy for sale as well as a vegetarian buffet dinner and a concert by Ethan Daniel Davidson and the Sadies. Of course, the kitties were the real stars of the night in a slide presentation showing all the felines WACP has helped.
