PHOTOSTREAM: David Bowie Memorial at the Beachland

Fri 2/13

The accolades for the recently deceased David Bowie continued at a tribute show at the Beachland Tavern, with three of Cleveland’s best indie rock bands playing  Bowie tunes and giving them their own distinctive take.

Psych rockers New Planet Trampoline gave their selections a raggedy edge, while Rainy Day Saints, fronted by longtime Cleveland power pop maven David Swanson and featuring an all-star cast of Cleveland players, created a massive sound and aimed for the stars. DJ Jim Lanza spun vinyl between sets.

Closing the show, Vanity Crash wore their Bowie/glam rock influence on their collective sleeve, performing a set containing some of Bowie’s best-known tunes such as “Rebel Rebel,” “All the Young Dudes” and “Moonage Daydream.”
