PHOTOSTREAM: Making Pierogies at the Coit Farm Market by Anastasia Pantsios

Sat 2/20

One of the great things about the Coit Road Farmers Market, which runs every Saturday morning year-round, is the regular hands-on informal cooking  demonstrations. The only Cleveland farmers market with its own dedicated building, the Coit Market has a kitchen area where it can prepare food of all types and shoppers can join in the cooking — and the eating. Recently, the demo centered on making that beloved Cleveland treat, pierogies. Participants rolled, cut and folded the dough, stuffed it with potatoes and bacon and piled caramelized onions and sour cream on top, and happily downed the results.

The next demonstrations, which generally take place biweekly, feature pressure cooking (3/5) and sausage making (3/19).
