Pretty much nobody who’d care needs an introduction to Cleveland rocker Michael Stanley at this point. The 67-year-old singer/songwriter/guitarist has behind him a 50-year career that includes a couple of high school bands, an album with his late ’60s band Silk, a pair of early ’70s solo albums, a 13-year career with the Michael Stanley Band, a brief post-MSB stint with Ghost Poets and a long list of solo albums, backed by his current, long-time band the Resonators.
Unlike many rockers from the ’70s and ’80s, he’s been startlingly prolific in recent years. He’s released an album a year since 2012, including this year’s And Then … and hasn’t gone more than two years without an album since 2003 with the exception of the gap between 2009 and 2012, when he lost both parents and his wife, Denise Skinner, who also ran his record label, Line Level.
When he plays his annual holiday shows, this year at the Hard Rock Rocksino, he’ll most likely be doing what he usually does: mixing the new tunes with all the hits the fans want to hear. The opener is another act beloved to fans of the MSB era: western Pennsylvania’s Donnie Iris and the Cruisers.
Tickets are $65 & $47.50.
