British-born, northeast Ohio-based jazz/pop singer Helen Welch has made quite a tradition of her annual Jingle Bell Swing show at the Akron Civic Theatre. There she and her trio of jazz musicians — pianist Rock Wehrman, bassist Bryan Thomas and drummer Anthony Taddeo — will tackle a diverse set list of popular holiday tunes such as “Jingle Bells,” “Winter Wonderland,” “Santa Claus Is Back in Town” and “Silent Night,” mixing up swinging, uptempo tunes, with heartwarming ballads, bluesy renditions and humorous numbers. They’ll be joined by a local choir to add even more oomph to some traditional holiday favorites.
The two nights will take place on the stage of the Akron Civic, in its intimate cabaret setup. Tickets are $25.
