PHOTOSTREAM: Tribute to Carlos Jones @BeachlandCLE

Sun 11/22

Local musician/comedian Charlie Wiener has spearheaded a series of evenings paying tribute to beloved local music icons. The first three honored folksinger Alex Bevan, the instigator of the Put-in-Bay musical style Pat Dailey, and the one and only Michael Stanley.

The fourth one took place at the Beachland Ballroom where a whole bunch of local musicians gathered to sing the praises of Cleveland reggae’s king of positive vibrations, Carlos Jones. Bevan, bluesman Colin Dussault, reggae bands Umojah Nation and Outlaws I&I (featuring some of Jones’ former First Light bandmates), Robin Stone, Big Ship, Dave Katz and Dan Shramo, and Jones’ own P.L.U.S. Band were among the performers, and even Jones’ wife Dori got in on it, singing her love to Carlos onstage with Umojah Nation.

Jones took it all in from a seat in the front row of the packed house where he got hugs, kisses and handshakes from friends and fans. Occasionally he jumped up on stage to join the performers, and everyone came back on for the grand finale.

The proceeds from the show benefited Cleveland Rocks: Past, Present and Future and Purple Heart Homes, which remodels homes for veterans.

  1. Thank you Anastasia! Great to see you and what a night! Of course, you captured it beautifully, and it means so much to me that you have been there through every stage of my journey so far. To have you document this momentous event is truly an honor. Much love and respect to you my Sister!
