PHOTOSTREAM: Skunkfest

Sat 9/12

The place to be for animal lovers on Saturday 9/12 was North Ridgeville’s South Central Park where the annual Skunkfest was taking place. The event is sponsored by the skunk rescue Skunk Haven, also located in North Ridgeville, and attracts pet skunk owners from across the region.

But even if skunks aren’t your thing (and these skunks, produced by breeders to be pets and not taken from the wild, are awfully cuddly, cute and well-fed), there were plenty of other four-legged critters to ooh and aah over. Greyhound, ferret and cat rescues had booths with the appropriate animals available to admire and pet. Another group was promoting its therapy rabbits who visit nursing homes and children with disabilities. Plenty of attendees came with their dogs, and someone even had a pet pig in a wagon.
