Euclid Beach Amusement Park Remembered at Family Afternoon @CleveMetroparks Euclid Beach

Euclid Beach Park, which closed in 1969 after 75 seasons, is fondly remembered by baby boomers. One of a wave of old-school parks that closed as glitzy parks like Cedar Point with their monster roller coasters grew, it was known for its family orientation with rides such as its wooden roller coasters and its famous carousel (now at the Western Reserve Historical Society).

But an organization called the Euclid Beach Park Nuts works to keep the memories alive and vivid for new generations. (It was involved in bringing the Carousel to the WRHS). At their 11th annual Remembering the Sights and Sounds of Euclid Beach Park, taking place at the Cleveland Metroparks Euclid Beach Reservation, the nostalgia will be heavy.

There’ll be walking tours to point out where each attraction was located with markers, a display of Euclid Beach history including remnants of some of those attractions, a car show of autos you might have seen in the Euclid Beach parking lot in its later days, and souvenirs and memorabilia for sale. The Rocket Ship Car and the Thriller Car will be on site giving rides. And the Humphrey popcorn balls and candy kisses that were sold at the old park will be among the food available.

And unlike Cedar Point, you won’t go home broke unless you overbuy on souvenirs. The event is free.
