The FiveOne Experimental Orchestra (51XO) has been doing unexpected musical things in unexpected venues for seven years. And certainly their upcoming show, which kicks of their new season, is nothing if not unusual.
For one thing, it takes place at the two-level vintage store Flower Child, on Clifton near the Cleveland/Lakewood border. There the eight members of the ensemble will perform solo acoustic and electro-acoustic works in four different spaces in two shifts, what they are calling “a guided labyrinth of solos.”
Audiences will be led in groups from one space to the next, timed so that they catch all the performances. They’re calling the concept Dream House, and surrounded by the household furnishings and collectibles from many other eras and 51XO’s untethered, exploratory music, it should certainly seem like that.
Admission is $5 at the door.
