Todd Rundgren isn’t from Cleveland, but he might as well be. Like the Michael Stanley Band’s, his record sales in this area have far outstripped those in other parts of the country for more than four decades. Although he’s had little commercial success since a couple of early ’70s hits, fans here remain loyal to the musician who’s still a sonic adventurer at age 67.
That’s likely why he’s got two back-to-back northeast Ohio shows, Tuesday at the Kent Stage and Wednesday at the Lorain Palace Theater, on his current tour in support of his latest album, Global, released in April.
We’re told that the production will be “unlike anything Rundgren has mounted in the past” — which is typical of the shape-shifting performer. He’ll be joined on stage only by a pair of female singers and a DJ/keyboard player but he’s promising a video and lighting extravaganza.
Tickets are $42-$52 for the Kent Stage show, $37-$52 for the Lorain Palace show.
