PHOTOSTREAM: The Beat Uptown With Obnox & Archie and the Bunkers @MOCACleveland

Thu 8/27

Throughout the month of August, free outdoor concerts have been taking place on the plaza next to MOCA Cleveland, featuring some of the area’s most interesting original bands booked by the Beachland Ballroom. The series finale was no different. On the bill were two local duos with roots in punk rock. Archie and the Bunkers’  inspiration comes from ’60s garage rock, probably their grandparents’ era considering that the two brothers, who play organ and drums, are just teenagers. Obnox, on the other hand, are a couple of seasoned musicians: guitarist Lamont “Bim” Thomas,” formerly of This Moment in Black History, and drummer Roseanna Safos of Goldmines. Together they make a sly post-punk racket. Considering  the divergent ages and experience of the musicians, it was no surprise that the crowd too was a mix of old-timers, families and teenagers, all enjoying the pleasant summer night.
