Like his legendary hitmaking father, Louis Prima Jr. is a singer/entertainer with Las Vegas roots and a grasp of a variety of musical styles with a healthy dose of New Orleans in his soul. Like his father, he plays the trumpet and sings. And while he pays tribute to the legacy of his father, who died in 1978, he amps up the music for contemporary ears.
Still, there’s that old-school feeling to his sound that makes it perfect for swing dancing. And he and his band the Witnesses will be playing for dancing hen they come to the Music Box Supper Club. Get Hep Swing will be conducting a dance lesson at 7pm; the band starts playing at 8. There’ll be some seating but there’ll be plenty of dance floor so you can swing your partner all evening.
