Northeast Ohio musicians Antoine Dunn and Robin Stone offer different versions of laidback soul music — black and white, male and female.
Dunn released an album, Truth of the Matter, in 2012 that was in the time-honored soul tradition of romantic, gospel-influenced crooning successfully followed by artists such as another Clevelander, the late Gerald Levert. In fact, Dunn’s album was produced by Levert’s writing partner Tony Nicholas. And while Dunn didn’t enjoy Levert’s level of success he’s still well worth hearing.
Stone likes to describe herself as “skinny, funky white chocolate.” In her two decades in the local music scene, she’s applied her rich, polished voice with its dark overtones to self-penned tunes that have journeyed from soul to jazz to funk to folk to light rock.
The two will offer an evening of fine singing and quality traditional songwriting at the Music Box Supper Club, perfect for snuggling with your honey. Come early for dinner; doors open at 6pm.
Tickets are $22 in advance, $25 at the door.
