Thu 5/28-Sun 5/31
The Cleveland International Classical Guitar Festival is a four-day feast of concerts, master classes and lectures on all aspects of the classical guitar and its repertoire that brings in attendees from across the country.
Now in its 15th year, the event, sponsored by Guitars International, features both well-known and up-and-coming musicians from around the world. The Grammy-winning head of the CIM’s guitar department, Jason Vieaux, is a consistent participant year after year. Other performers this year include Scotland’s Paul Galbraith, Spanish guitarist Ricardo Gallén, Greek guitarist Antonis Hatzinikolaou (making his U.S. debut), the Spanish/Greek duo of Susana Prieto and Alexis Muzurakis, Czech guitarist Pavel Steidl, CIM graduate Jeremy Collins and harpist Yolanda Kondonassis, who is also on the CIM faculty.
Most of the concerts are $22, while daytime master classes, lectures and a master guitar maker workshop are free to attend. All events take place at the Cleveland Institute of Music, where there will also be an exhibit of fine classical guitars.
