Wed 1/28 @ 7PM

Maurice Reedus Jr. has been playing his saxophone on downtown Cleveland streets for decades. If you’ve gone to an event at one of the PlayhouseSquare theaters, you may have seen him standing on the sidewalk, blowing versions of popular and classic tunes for tips.

Filmmaker Joe Siebert became fascinated with Reddus’story (among other things he played with a ’70s R&B group that had a few choice gigs but never got its big break) and spent several years putting together a film called The Sax Man, raising over $35,000 on Kickstarter.

The film is done and screened last year at the Cleveland International Film Festival. But in order to give it wider distribution, they need to money to license the music Reedus plays in the film. So they’re holding a screening at the Great Lakes Tasting Room where you’ll not only see the film but can engage Seibert in a Q&A. Reedus will be there too, making what’s billed as a “special appearance,” which probably means he’ll bring his sax and blow a few tunes.

On top of that, Great Lakes’ bar will be available to patronize, and Campbell’s Sweets Factory is bringing their popcorn cart

Admission is $10, which includes your first pint and bag of Campbell’s popcorn. There will also be a silent auction and they will gladly accept donations.

You must register to attend. Go here:
