Forget the image of the starving artist toiling away on a piece of work while isolated from the world. In reality, most artists and designers are engaged in the community and actively shaping American culture.
The Cleveland Institute of Art (CIA) strives to shine a light on the realities of working artists with a comprehensive examination of the role of art and artists today. To help their mission, they’re bringing in Stephen G. Vetter, President & CEO of Partners of the Americas, for a weeklong visit.
His organization connects volunteers, organizations, and communities in efforts to reduce poverty and improve the economic and social development of disadvantaged populations. He’ll speak at the City Club on the artist’s capacity to promote social change, which he also discussed in his book Soul Deep: The Power to Connect. Serve. Change Lives.
Examine just how important artists are to our society and world at large.
