This year marks the 116th annual Feast of the Assumption, hosted by the Holy Rosary church in Cleveland’s historic Little Italy neighborhood. The feast celebrates the Catholic holy day of the Assumption, honoring the Virgin Mary being taken into heaven.
This lively and much anticipated weekend of events begins Thursday evening at the Holy Rosary church with a vigil mass, after which a statue of the blessed Mary is taken on procession throughout the neighborhood. The festivities begin shortly after, with multiple food vendors and carnival rides for youngsters decorating the churchyard. Live music can be expected, as well as fireworks concluding the procession on the last day.
Every year close to 100,000 people are expected at the Feast over the four day weekend of events. It’s the perfect occasion for families and friends to come together in celebration and merriment!
