Wed 8/20 @ 7pm
As the popularity and practice of yoga continues to spread and grow in our modern society, it’s no secret that a deeper and firmer understanding of the art is often sought after.
On Wed 8/20 at the Cleveland Museum of Art’s Gartner Auditorium, knowledge seekers will be treated to a talk on the history and practice of the two ancient traditions of yoga by Sir James Mallinson, Ph.D.
Dr. Mallinson will draw on experiences and understanding on the subject from his time spent at the Kumbh Mela festivals in India, the largest religious gathering of its kind on the planet. At the heart of these peaceful, Hindu gatherings of millions are the Sadhus, who are the primary developers of yoga. Sir James will expound on the extensive knowledge reaped from his time spent with these Hindu holy men, while using the museum’s current exhibit Yoga: The Art of Transformation as context.
The event is free and open to the public, but registration is suggested in order to secure a seat. Do so online or by phone.
