It’s hard to believe that it’s only been three years since Akron’s Wesley Bright & the Hi-Lites hit the area music scene with their hyper-charged, horn-driven neo-soul. The band’s been packing its shows here for more than half that time and energizing crowds at events like Tri-C Jazz Fest’s free outdoor stage at PlayhouseSquare a few weeks ago. They’re currently putting the finishing touches on their debut full-length album (They’ve already released a couple of singles).
To celebrate the beginning of what will hopefully be a stellar fourth year, the band is doing a special anniversary show on the roof of the Lockview (the former Lime Spider) in downtown Akron. It’s the same venue where they played their first-ever gig.
Their Facebook page says it’s a special limited audience show with details TBA. So follow their page and maybe you’ll get in. Happy band birthday, guys.
