Norwalk-based Americana quartet the Womacks spent the spring in the studio recording their latest release, an EP titled WFB (It stands for Womack Family Band, the group’s name until recently).
The much-traveled five-year-old band features a pair of siblings Noah and Haley Heyman, Haley’s fiancé Tony Schaffer, and Cory Webb — all of whom contribute to the band’s repertoire of classic-style pop tunes with a slightly rustic vibe.
The group isn’t going to have some intimate little release show in a local club to share the first copies of its fourth release with its fan base. They’ve got something bigger on the schedule: a full-scale festival called the Great American Treat.
The all-day, outdoor Independence Day weekend event features 16 area acts on two stages. Performer like Istvan Medgyesi, Emily Keener, and Tommy Christian will play on the acoustic stage. And the full-band stage will feature acts like Akron rocker Rachel Roberts, Cleveland’s folky Nate Jones Band, the Womacks themselves in the penultimate slot at 9:30, and Cleveland’s raging funky horns-and-percussion ensemble Revolution Brass Band closing the day at 11pm.
And the Womacks are taking a cue from all the jam bands who put together their own festivals, and they’re making this more than a mere concert. There will be camping, food vendors, artist displays, yoga, massages, and a midnight movie following the music.
It takes place at the Womack Ranch in Monroeville.
Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the gate. Camping is $5 for 1-2 people, $10 for 3-6 people. Go here to reserve.
